... this being character design. especially designing characters that already exist. my Juha doesn't look early '80s at all, he just looks emo ... and gay. über gay. he might very well be the gayest thing I've ever seen. he's wearing makeup, for god's sake. and a dog collar. and emo hair. BUT IT'S ALL CANON. I SWEAR. and so is his gayness, now that I think of it. he is, in fact, embarrassingly gay. And speaking of embarrassingly gay, so is Jarle Klepp. He's so in denial, I don't even know what to do with him.

... I think I spend too much of my analysis discussing people's sexuality. I've written like, three paragraphs discussing how Jarle _has_ to be gay or bi, even though he makes a big thing of FALLING IN LOVE WITH A GUY EVEN THOUGH HE'S STRAIGHT OMG. I don't know who he thinks he's fooling. I mean, there's an entire page where he thinks about famous people who are gay, and then there's one where he hates himself ... 'cause he's gay. and then he convinces himself that he's not. DENIAAAAL. been there, done that, know the symptoms...

Okay, back to drawing Juha. There's got to be some way of making him look less gay. I could make his face more masculine so the makeup won't be that noticeable. Yesh. And maybe the collar has to go. We'll see.
